JUST IN: IU Letter from VA Secretary

AMVETS just received a letter from VA Secretary Shulkin regarding Individual Unemployability benefits. It says, in part:

This letter is in response to multiple inquiries to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) concerning the proposed changes to the total disability based on individual unemployability (TDIU) program in the Administration’s FY 2018 budget for VA. … The Department does not support a termination of TDIU benefits.

You can read the letter in its entirety here.

We at AMVETS cannot thank our grassroots supporters enough for the response on this issue – the tens of thousands of you who took the time to stay informed, those who shared stories, who called or emailed your members of Congress to let them know how cutting IU would be detrimental to you or a loved one’s quality of life, and those who also contacted VA. You help strengthen our collective voice and made an incredible impact.

As always, thank you for your support of all veterans.
