Aspen Dental offers day of free dental care for veterans 2018.
On Saturday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., dentists and team members from over 300 Aspen Dental practices in 31 states will open their doors to offer a day of free dental care to thousands of veterans.
The day of free service is expected to be the largest single-day oral health initiative targeted at veterans, according to Aspen officials. It’s part of the Healthy Mouth Movement, a community-giving initiative that was launched in 2014, with the goal of delivering free dental care and oral health education to people in need.
Though the annual event was launched last year, this year is the first time that the free care will be offered exclusively to veterans.
“Aspen has heard a lot from participating doctors,” Shawn Ghuman, a spokesperson for Aspen Dental, told The Hour. “Many of the doctors were seeing that a lot of the people who were coming in for the free dental care days actually were veterans so they wanted to do a day specifically for veterans. That way, they’re serving those who have served. The doctors are able to give back to that community.”
